Professional Variables and Staff Readiness to Utilise Internet-Based Channels for Research Communication in An Era of COVID-19

This study assessed the professional variables of academic staff in African varsities and their readiness to Utilise Internet-Based Channels for Research Communication an era COVID-19. Drawing from Maslow’s hierarchy needs theory, was guided by four null hypotheses. The quantitative research method based on virtual cross-sectional survey design adopted. A total 8,591 academics universities were targeted demographic this study. However, data collected a snowball sample 1,977 respondents (males, N = 1347; females, 630) 24 countries. validated electronic survey, with three major aspects, employed collection. e-survey released Association Universities' Telegram forum, which includes 1,622 participants diverse nations regions. Members who are all academics, invited complete publish it universities' internet-based forums. Coded analysed using descriptive inferential statistics such as Kruskal Wallis Non-parametric test. non-parametric test used because failed meet normality assumptions required perform parametric Results indicated, amongst others, that there considerable variances preparedness use channels communication educational credentials, qualification, rank areas interest. According doctoral degree; grade II lecturers; 3 6 years service; medical sciences demonstrated higher propensity communication. Based these findings key theoretical, practical implications discussed.
